This article is in response to a growing number of questions we have received from our amazing community asking what the best way to get started online is, and how can they to get to a level where they are making $100 a day online as fast as possible.
Building an internet business is not a quick process; it takes lots of motivation and dedication, and getting the ball rolling in the first place is normally the hardest part.
So Where Do I Start?
What any new internet business needs is a business plan (click here to learn how to build a solid internet business plan), and to build up cash-flow as quickly as possible, so that you can start getting your cash-book ticking over.
Because the number one reason why most businesses fail within their first three years is simple… It is normally due to a lack of cash-flow.
Any business plan normally starts out with a solid niche market – your customer base (find out how to find a hot niche market here). You will need to start building a foundation in that niche. Start by setting up platforms online for your business, such as a website, Social Media accounts and/or an email list. Producing valuable content and giving it away for free will be the key to attracting people into your ‘crowd’ and building your following (this is what is more commonly known as your ‘lead magnet’).
Tip: Your email list is a powerful tool for building up trust with your followers, and then eventually selling to them. We would recommend that you try and focus on building up your email list when you start up, as that is where a lot of the sales are made.
Right, I’ve Got My Niche-Market, Now What?
You now need to define a solid strategy to earn money by selling to your chosen niche, whether that is by creating your own products and selling them, or being an affiliate and recommending other peoples’ products. This is where the right internet marketing education comes in handy, as you have to know what you are doing if you want to be able to monetise your business.
Long-term, Building an internet business is a process of increasing your online assets everyday, and following your business plan until you have a large, sustainable business. Online assets include online resources that you can create such as:
- YouTube Videos
- Blog Posts on Your Website, or for Article Marketing
- Email Auto-Responders
- Products That You Can Give Away For Free
- Your Social Media Presence
- & Many More…!
These online assets will be the key for generating and managing leads for your business. Which assets you choose to create will depend upon your marketing strategy, and your talents – for example if you are a good writer, then you may favour writing articles over posting YouTube videos.
Once you have developed a firm community who trust you, you will have more power to recommend them products, or to sell your own.
Should I Quit My Job And Jump In Full-Time?
Whether you quit your job or not largely depends on your personal situation. However, we would not advise that you just throw in the towel at your place of work before you have established a suitable, stable income online if you have no other forms of income.
We all know that being in a job can be a bit of a drag if you do not enjoy it, and your passion lies elsewhere, but do be sure to make sure that you are stable before you fully commit – trust me, we made that mistake in the early days!
There is also this social stigma amongst some Entrepreneurs that having a job is a ‘bad thing’. Some of them will even speak to you like they feel sorry for you if you admit that you still work in a job.
I would like to break this illusion of a job being a ‘bad thing’ right now! There are many people on this earth who love their jobs, and there is nothing wrong with staying in a job whilst you start your internet business, or even after you are successful! If you love your job and don’t want to leave, then stay and do what makes YOU happy.
There are a few great ways which you can earn cash (online and offline), whilst you build your internet business. Here are a few ideas:
- Selling Items on Ebay – If you need some quick cash, then selling unwanted junk from your house on Ebay is a great way to raise some quick cash. Also, if you run out of your own junk, then you can offer to sell other peoples’ and split the profit with them!
- Do Services on Fiverr, Elance, Odesk & People Per Hour – Doing services such as Copywriting, Reviews, Video Editing etc. is a great way to earn some extra cash from home when you are starting up. Highly recommended!
- Affiliate Marketing – Marketing other peoples’ products is a great way to get an income while you are making your own products (if you are). It is also great marketing practice, and it will allow you to gain a solid understanding about how an online business works.
- Get a Job/Stay in Your Job – Keeping your job is probably one of the best things that you can do if you don’t have a solid income in your internet business.
Building a sustainable online business is a process that can take some time to get started, but it sure does pay dividends in the long-run!
We see building an internet business as two halves: the long-term plan (what you want the core of your business to be) which generally takes a while to build up, and the short-term plan (ways to make cash quickly while you build your business). There are many ways to make $100 a day online while you start up – which you choose to put into action will be tailored to you and your specific skill-set.
