My goal today is to give you 5 small mindset changes that you can implement right away that will cause huge, positive changes in your business.
You see, we all like to see small wins in our business. They motivate us, and spur us on towards achieving our dreams.
And that is why it can be so inspiring to put a couple of little changes into effect in our business – so that we can see that our actions directly affect our results.
But just before we get into the 5 changes, I need to make a disclaimer: it is really fun ready articles and getting lots of tips, but you will need to actually implement these into your business to get the results that you desire from them.
That goes without saying for most people, but you would be amazed at the amount of people who read articles (such as this one!) online, and pick up loads of great tips, only to never actually implement them.
Oh, what they could have done with all that wasted knowledge hey?!
Anyway, without further ado, let’s get into the 5 small mindset changes that will create massive results in your business:
Change Number #1: Focus on Profit, and Not Revenue
This is a huge one for many people in their business – especially start-up internet marketers who love seeing any money coming into the bank!
The fact is that you could make a million pounds of gross profit (or revenue) in your business, but if you also spend a million pounds on marketing and education, then you will not actually take home any cash from your business.
Many internet marketers spend a fortune on training courses and marketing campaigns that half-work, as they feel that this will lead to greater profits in their business.
And not surprisingly, that is one of the most common causes of a lack of profit for beginner internet marketers!
Now, I would like to make a quick disclaimer at this point: I’m not saying that you shouldn’t invest in education to learn how to set up your internet business properly, and I’m not claiming that you can make money online without spending any of your own money.
In fact, I know it to be completely the opposite!
All I am simply saying is that many internet marketers focus on getting cash in, but what really matters is the bottom-line of profit and loss.
So to become more profit focused, simply become more focused on the bottom-line numbers.
- heavily researching any courses that you invest in, so that you know that they are legitimate, and that they won’t be a waste of money
- heavily tracking your marketing spend, and your general business expenses to check that they are being spent in the best way possible – to achieve the highest profit possible
Focus more on profit, and you will take more home!
Change Number #2: Be in it For The Long-Term
Every successful business person knows that it is a long game, and that it takes a long time, effort, sweat and tears to get successful overnight!
Don’t get caught up in the fad of ‘you can get rich overnight, online’, it is simply bogus and it will cost you a lot of money if you buy into it.
The fact is that those who succeed are the ones who keep going when the non-believers give up.
They are the ones who are in it for the long-game. They get their business set up, set their strategy online, and stick to it until it happens.
One of the best things that you can possibly do for your business (and your sanity) is to stick to your business plan.
Having to start again on the path to your dreams every time you give up will just annoy you, so don’t give up!
Look at the image below, this would be representative of you in your business if you gave up – you may only have one more hit left to get all the diamonds and rewards that you have been waiting for, but you would sacrifice it all if you gave up.
So change your mindset, and recognise that you will have to be in this business for the long-term to achieve your dreams.
Change Number #3: Try and Work With Others, Not Against Them
“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success” – Henry Ford
The quote above by Henry Ford is so true because put simply, we can always achieve more by working with others people than we can by ourselves – simply because multiple brains are better than one!
Many business people (internet marketers included) can be very close-minded when it comes to working with others. I think it is simply because many business owners view business as a competition, so they think that they will lose if they work with others.
The simple truth is that they will in fact, win.
Many of the top internet marketers worldwide make most of their profits on the back-end of Joint-Venture product launches to other peoples’ email lists.
Heck, a lot of them even host competitions to see which of their affiliates can make the most sales from their email list!
Now, if that doesn’t prove that working with other people is the way to go, then I don’t know what does.
The key to establishing a good working relationship with another business person is to try and create win/win situations where both parties are set to gain from any one agreement.
So for example, if somebody sells your products to their email list to generate you a sale, you repay them by giving them a percentage of the sale, and doing the same for them when they come to launch their own product to the market.
This simple change in mentality from working individually, to working with others will dramatically impact your success in your business, your business relationships and ultimately, your bottom-line profits.
Change Number #4: Work Smarter, Not Harder
Do not fall into the macho-mindset of ‘I always do well because I work so hard’, because the fact is that working hard is great, but working smart and hard will always win.
Let me tell you a personal story. When I was at school, there was a boy in my class, for the sake of this story, lets call him Adam.
Now, I spent 7 years with this boy throughout school. He was not the most talented boy, but he worked hard to maintain a decent grade.
And when I say hard, I mean REALLY hard!
The fact is that even though he worked hard, he never asked the teacher for much help, and he never worked with others. This eventually stopped him achieving a top grade.
If he had worked smart however, then he maybe would have asked the teacher for more help – or even hired a tutor outside of school.
The many hours he spent trying to solve a maths problem could simply have been ten minutes work and explaining for a tutor.
Don’t be the same in your business: working hard is always great for productivity, but remember that the best internet marketers (and general business owners) work smart and hard.
If you leave out one or the other, then you will find it hard to be successful in your business.
Change Number #5: Add Value, Not Clutter
This change is dramatic epiphany that many internet marketers face when they come to create their products.
The fact is that many niches online are already crammed full of information courses, books and products.
It is very rare to find a totally untapped niche these days, so the real key online is to add MASSIVE value to those who you serve, so that they do not feel tempted to go to somebody else for information, learning and guidance.
And the hard fact to face is that if you are not focusing on adding value to your market, then you are potentially going to have one of those products that sits on the shelf and just clutters peoples’ offices.
You want to do well, your family want you to do well and we want you to do well – that’s why our mission is to teach you how to do internet marketing properly. The biggest service that you could do for yourself and your business is to focus on adding value because from there, everything else will come.
It also goes without saying that if you add more value than your competitors on a regular basis then you can guess who will be getting the business – YOU of course!
So don’t go through all that effort to get your products out to only fall at the last hurdle to your success; add value consistently, and you will consistently get value back in the form of happy customers and profits.
Now we have covered the 5 small changes, the stage is yours:
